Enter your film into the 2025 badlands film festival
The 12th Annual Badlands Film Festival will take place in 2025 (locations and dates to be announced). We hope you've had your cameras rolling this year to capture all the amazing adventures you've experienced. There's nothing quite like seeing your film on the big screen, so check out the details below on how to submit your film for consideration.
A huge thanks to all of our film festival partners who help make it all possible. We'll have a full list of partners for the 2025 event, including prizes up soon.

FILM SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR 2025 EVENT IS 1/31/2025

FEATURE FILM CATEGORY
Recommended overall running time of 8-10 minutes. Longer films will still be considered but we lean more towards the 10 minute range (15 minute enforced maximum). We shortened the maximum length as a challenge, so embrace it and be creative! The style? That’s up to you. We highly recommend up-tempo footage that tells a compelling story, because we’ve all seen a guy sitting and waiting in a tree...this is your chance to be different.

Recommended overall running time of 2-3 minutes (4-minute enforced maximum). Once again, how much can get across in a short video? This is where real storytellers shine.

Preferred Formats: Submit all films in HD, mp4 or compressed .avi format, and note whether it is for the Feature Film or Short Film Category.

The Fine Print
All filmmakers will be required to review, accept and sign a release form both confirming that the submission is an original piece of work and giving Badlands permission to use the completed film for future advertising of the Badlands Film Festival Event -*Your film and/or footage will NOT be used in regular Badlands advertising or for any purpose not related to promotion of the Badlands Film Festival.
All music and stock footage must be legally licensed or owned by filmmaker and appropriate credit given in the film. Any film submitted without proper licensing or permissions will not be accepted.
All submitted work must be the original work of the submitter.
Badlands reserves the rights to change details of the Film Festival event, including date, time, criteria, and/or prizes.
Filmmakers must be 18 to enter.
