Nope, try again with a redesign

"good idea but in my case, a problem fit. too tight in the calf, too loose above the knee to the waist. weird waist closure without a button or snap. if you continue them, consider these factors."

Great idea but awful design!

"Wanted to love these but they are very poorly designed. The zippers are UPSIDE DOWN (zippers start at top and don't zip both ways). Sounds great but super impractical when you try and wear them under other garments that ZIP DOWN (zipper starts at bottom) rainwear, bibs, etc. Also they DON'T STAY UP! There are no buttons, elasticity in the waist or belt loops, just a shoelace to tie at the waist. I would send them back but they were final sale, no returns. I took them to a local tailor and had them modified and look forward to wearing them. Would not buy again and definitely makes me shy away from the badlands brand. Not sure what they were thinking."

Versatile

"Versatile for all occasions from hunting to snowmobile winter sports to Fall and Winter use. Great quality!"

Under layer

"The waist is a little strange as there is no button only a tie. The length are a little short but great for under layer and the warranty is second to none. Love this company. Wish it would ship overseas to the military."

Kyle K. (5/5)

Fantastic as usual

"I wear a 32x32 pant and the mediums were perfect. A lot thinner and lighter than I thought considering the temp rating, but they work incredibly well. I used them for a shotgun hunt when the high was 1. I put them under my fleece lined jeans and they were fantastic especially when walking. Didn't interfere with movement at all and the zippers on the sides are surprisingly useful."

Grant G. (5/5)

Great pants.

"Was hoping they would be a little warmer but still an awesome base layer. I would say it’s an all season base layer, but an early season early november base layer. Zippers are super smooth and don’t get caught easy. Really nice stretch to fit bigger legs."

Better than Average

"I would say these are a superb build quality but question their durability. Good down to 30°, though? Eh. I would not say so. . . They are not THAT insulated. Even combined with a good base layer, I still feel a little chilly, at 58° with no wind, sitting still. I also find them short. I am not sure if that is by design or not, but I am 6'0 and I would prefer if they were about 2-4" longer. With the materials they are made out of, I would also be worried about snagging something and ripping them. The draw strings are a nice touch, because they allow me to adjust to my waist and amount of clothing. It would also be nice if I could access the pockets of my base layer. Of course, there is the lifetime, unconditional warranty and the fact that they are well made that tend to make up for my very mild complaints."

Cozy and convenient

Q&A

Are these full length pants or do the legs stop mid calf?
Andrew, the Shift pants are designed to be worn underneath an outer pair of pants, and come down to mid-calf!
How tough is the outer material for the shift pants? I was wondering are these strictly a mid layer or could it be used as an outer layer. Thinking if it could be good for slipping on after getting to a stand or while glassing.
Jay, they can be used in the situations you described, but the face fabric is not designed to be hiking around in. However, we recommend using them as a mid-layer.
What material(s) make up these pants?
Jurms, 85% Polyester/15% Spandex and Primaloft Gold 40g insulation.
Hi, what is the weight of the shift pants? Specifically the size large. Thanks.
J.Redmond, the larges weigh in at 14 oz.
