At the top of the All-Terrain Xtreme (ATX) hunting pack hierarchy, you’ll find the head honcho. The big cheese. El Presidente. Leading the lineup with 2,500 cubic inches of storage, a lightweight, yet strong internal frame, comfort-focused, molded foam suspension and a built-in waistbelt, the ATX 25 pack is made for heavier loads and hauling your harvest home. While it's built for carrying a hefty amount, it's still a streamlined, and dare we say uncomplicated, frame pack (in the best possible way), for your next hunt. It's also compatible with Badlands hydration reservoirs, our SWAP accessory system and Bino Connect bino harnesses. Lightweight. Straightforward design. This hunting pack is all-terrain, all the time.

Product FAQs

2500 CI (40L)—significantly larger than the ATX 12 (1270 CI) or the ATX 16 (1600 CI). The ATX 25 is framed for heavier/more structured carry (e.g., extra gear, layers, optics, or packing out meat/small game), while the smaller ones are unstructured and lighter. It's ideal for full-day hunts, multi-activity days, or as a "do-it-all" day pack without jumping to full expedition frames.
No—the ATX 25 has a built-in, adjustable waistbelt (not removable) for better weight distribution on heavier loads. (The ATX 12 and 16 have removable ones for minimalist/streamlined use.)
Better than smaller daypacks thanks to the internal aluminum frame and waistbelt—reviews highlight good load transfer to hips, comfort on hikes with moderate-heavy weight (e.g., 13-mile/4000' tests or harvest scenarios). It's not a dedicated meat-hauling frame pack (like larger Badlands models), but users find it capable for day hunt pack-outs (pair with meat bags). Great for gear-heavy days but not extreme multi-day loads.
Water-resistant (C0 DWR coating sheds light rain, snow, dew effectively in hunting conditions).
Highly praised: Molded foam suspension, frame, and waistbelt provide excellent comfort even loaded. Fits various torso sizes (Badlands generally 17–22"); adjustable straps/back panel. Reviewers call it "comfort-focused" for year-round use, including scouting, hiking, or stand setups.
Unconditional lifetime warranty (Badlands' hallmark): Repair/replace/refund for any damage (use-related or not), free except shipping to them. Submit online with photos; clean first (bathtub soak with mild scent-free detergent, rinse, line dry—no machines).

Reviews

Amazing customer service

"I ordered this game for a whitetail hunt out of state and the customer service rep for Badlands was amazing to work with, found the right color I wanted and got it to me just in time. I sent 7 days in the field and the bag performed above and beyond expectations. It was adjustable to hold a small size in the am as I wore my warmer clothes in the snow and expanded as the day wormed up. Held my water bladder and all the items I needed for my day hunts. The compartments were well placed and oversized zippers work well with gloves. Great design!"

Hauling meat was rough

"I recently harvested a mule deer a couple days ago. And I have this pack. I love this pack hauling my tripod all my extra clothing and food. But when it came to adding my meat bags onto the pack and the head. The straps wouldn’t stay tight. They kept slipping causing a 4.5 mile hike to take way longer because I had to carry items in my hand or stop every so often to try and adjust. Wish the straps stayed tight. Other than that it’s a good pack"

New Camo, Same HQ Product

"Picked this pack up hoping for a great daypack that could carry all of my necessities(snacks, headlamp, etc), packable rain gear, first aid, and extra camera gear. The internal frame is light weight and helps support heavier loads. There's not a lot of extra zipper pockets, so I use a small organizer inside to keep all my gear in place. The new camo pattern is brushed soft like the OG. I couldn't find anywhere locally to check it out and ordered with my fingers crossed. The color is even better in person and I know they say its for whitetail or Midwest forests, but it looks just as good in the western Rockies and desert. How often are animals looking at your back anyway? Awesome pack and you can't beat the warranty for gear that is living a tough life in the field."

ATX25

"A very nice backpack and I like being able to hook-up my binos and rangefinder directly to the backpack with the binoconnect feature - and, attach pockets and things with swap grids - very well thought out Badlands, thank you."

— James H. (5/5)

Perfect size

"I wanted a pack that would hold my pyre bibs and jacket. This ATX 25 is a perfect size. Over all it seems great. I would appreciate a small exterior zippered pocket on the front and a place to secure the tag end of the straps so the aren't just hanging there. There is really nice padding on the pack that is perferated for breathability which I really like as well."

— John T. (5/5)

I highly suggest this pack

"This is a excellent pack, I bought it last year for a elk hunt and it was all I could ever ask for"

— Grant E. (5/5)

Bag seems to be made

"Bag seems to be made really well, lots of storage space, haven’t used it yet, so time will tell, light weight, lots of straps to hook on to. Weight distribution feels good, not a heavy pack. Can’t wait to put it to the test"

— Jarrod P. (5/5)

Now that’s a pack!

"This pack is everything I was hoping for and more. Versatile, just the right size for day packs, or hauling a heavy load if needed."

— Leo C. (5/5)

"ATX 25 is the perfect day use pack. ATX 16 is on the smaller side. MRK 4 for the long hauls."

— Brandon (5/5)

Good alternative to the 2200 - Good Daypack

"Bought this for a daypack with a meat shelf. I've had the 2200 in the past but didn't care for the wings, the backpanel or the bulk. PROs: lightweight, compress down for a smaller profile, meatself, material, easy day pack -holds rain gear & cold weather layers CONs: waste strap/buckle is traditional but should have been upgraded to pull straps out&away from torso, not really a frame - two magnesium rods - if the pack is wade down the two rods press into your back which creates hot spots."
